Beyonce Gives Back: Formation Scholarship

Queen B never ceases to amaze us!

In celebration of her 1 year anniversary of record selling visual album “Lemonade”, Beyoncé announced that she will be giving out 4 scholarships to women at 4 different universities.

The name of this scholarship is “The Formation Scholars Award” which seek to recognize and encourage woman to be bold, creative, conscious, and confident. Beyoncé has selected 4 universities to give her scholarship to: Berklee College of Music in Boston, Howard University in Washington D.C., Parsons School of Design in New York City, and Spelman College in Atlanta, GA.

This scholarship will be rewarded to incoming, undergrad, and graduate students studying creative arts, music, literature or African-American studies.

Beyoncé received much praise for her scholarship. Former First Lady Michelle Obama tweeted Beyoncé “Always inspired by your powerful contributions @Beyoncé. You are a role model for us all. Thank you for investing in our girls.”

CNN reported that this scholarship will be worth $25,000 each and is a one-time scholarship open to the 2017-2018 school year. Part of the application requires a 300 word max essay on how the album “Lemonade” inspired your educational goals? I’m sure plenty of women can answer that, the problem will be keeping it at 300 words!

Thank you, Beyoncé, once again for being a role model and encouraging our girls. You are, of course, a Woman Who Owns Excellence!
